The best show of lambs so far this season were, as expected, rather cheaper on the week. However most vendors were satisfied with the trade, with a pleasing number of buyers in the ring. Standard weight lambs to 40 kg averaged more than 169 per kg. Pick of the market where the Texel Lambs produced by George Gate, Hollins Farm at £90 and £88. These were purchased by Tony Harrison Butcher of Main St, Cockermouth.

Cast ewes were a mixed trade this week despite the fact that there were more active buyers n the ring. Quality, lean, heavy ewes were a nice trade as were meaty hill ewes. Anything else was cheaper than last week but still good to sell.
